Vehicle Tracking
RoutePilot's fleet map shows the real-time location of your vehicles when GPS tracking devices are installed.
How Vehicle Tracking Works
Each tracked vehicle has a GPS device that reports its location at regular intervals. Locations appear on the fleet map in the Fleet section of the office app.
The fleet map shows:
- Current vehicle position as a colored marker
- Vehicle name or license plate
- Last known speed
- Last update timestamp
Viewing the Fleet Map
- Go to Fleet in the main navigation
- The map loads with all active vehicles
- Click on any vehicle marker to see its current details
- Use the vehicle list on the left to filter by technician or vehicle
Vehicle Status
Vehicles show one of these statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Moving | Currently in motion |
| Stopped | Engine on, not moving |
| Parked | Engine off, location held |
| Offline | No GPS signal or device not reporting |
Offline status may appear when a vehicle is in a building, underground parking, or a weak signal area. The last known location is shown when offline.
Vehicle History
Click on a vehicle, then select View History to see where a vehicle was during a specific time period. Use the date/time picker to select the range.
For a full route replay, see Route Replay.
GPS Devices
GPS tracking requires a hardware device installed in each vehicle. Device setup is handled during onboarding. Contact support if you need to add a vehicle or replace a device.
Note
GPS location accuracy depends on satellite signal quality and device reporting intervals. In dense urban environments or indoors, locations may be slightly imprecise. The location shown is the last successfully reported GPS fix.
