Capturing Signatures

Customer signatures provide on-site confirmation that work was completed to their satisfaction. The RoutePilot mobile app includes a signature pad that works on any touch-screen device.

Requesting a Signature

From a stop that is in progress or ready to complete:

  1. Open the stop detail
  2. Tap Capture Signature
  3. Hand the device to the customer
  4. The customer signs with their finger directly on the screen
  5. Tap Accept to save, or Clear to start over

The signature is attached to the job record immediately.

When Signatures Are Useful

Signatures are most valuable for:

  • High-value services where the customer is present
  • Services that access interior spaces
  • Any job where a customer might later dispute completion
  • Service contracts that require customer acknowledgment

For exterior-only recurring services where customers rarely interact with technicians, photos may be sufficient.

If the Customer Isn't Present

If the customer is not on-site to sign:

  • Skip the signature step — it is optional
  • Add a note: "Customer not present — exterior service only"
  • Take a completion photo instead

Note

Signatures cannot be captured retroactively. If you skipped the signature and need to confirm service, a timestamped completion photo is the next best documentation.

Viewing Saved Signatures

Captured signatures are stored on the job record and visible to office staff. They are included on invoice PDFs if generated.

To view signatures from the office:

  1. Open the job or work order record
  2. Navigate to the Documents or Proof of Service section
  3. Click on the signature to view full size
